Blues put off by star’s price tag!
Chelsea have reportedly dropped their interest in Real Madrid star James Rodriguez after the Spanish giants put a £60million price tag on the player.
The Columbian ace seemed like he could be on the way to Stamford Bridge after falling out of favour at the Bernabau.
However, his price tag seems set to put Chelsea off doing any business with the European Champions.
The club splashed out on deals for N’Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi within the £30m bracket over the summer.
And a move for Rodriguez would shatter the £50m they shelled out to bring in Fernando Torres from Liverpool.
However, it’s thought they are unwilling to spend such amounts of money on one player, especially one that could be a gamble and may not fit in with Antonio Conte’s system.
A move to Manchester United for Rodriguez could still materialise in January, however.
Jose Mourinho is desperate to land a world-class No10 to play as a link between star signings Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
And now, with Chelsea out of the race for signing him, United could make a move and use Rodriguez as a way of getting their season back on track.
