Blues prepared to offer Aston Villa £30m
Chelsea are set to enter the race for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke and are prepared to offer £30million for the Belgium international.
The 24-year-old had a stunning debut season in England at Villa Park, but struggled throughout the majority of this season up until Paul Lambert was replaced with Tim Sherwood.
Benteke on Form
After the managerial change, Benteke has netted 11 goals in just nine games and is the spearhead of Villa’s survival hopes, and Sherwood has already revealed that he will sell the striker if an acceptable offer comes in.
Sherwood admitted when he took over at Villa Park that if Benteke wants to leave and if an acceptable offer is made, the club will sell him.
Chelsea Interest
Jose Mourinho wants to add more firepower to his title-winning team and is keen to backup Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba. However, the latter could still be on his way out of the club.
According to reports, Chelsea are prepared to match Villa’s £30m asking price.
