Blues ready to hijack proposed Tottenham Hotspur deal

Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama.

The Blues have endured a tough start to their title defence, winning just two of their first six games, and that has lead to Jose Mourinho doubting his first-team players.

According to reports, Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry and Cesc Fabregas are all under-fire after their poor starts to the 2015/2016 campaign.

Players Under Pressure

With Mourinho reportedly sending scouts out to find a new right-back, and more reports linking the Blues with signing a new centre-back, it looks like Ivanovic and Terry could be replaced at Stamford Bridge.

However, according to this morning’s reports, Mourinho could be on the look out for a new holding-midfielder, meaning either Fabregas could be dropped, or could be pushed forward into an advanced role in the midfield.

It’s being reported that Chelsea want to sign Wanyama from Southampton and are prepared to outbid London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who wanted to sign the Kenyan over the summer.

Pogba Alternative

It’s stated that Chelsea could offer up to ÂŁ20m for the Saints midfielder, which is deemed a cheaper and more realistic option to Juventus star Paul Pogba.

It was made clear that the Premier League champions wanted to sign Pogba over the summer, but the Frenchman rejected a move to West London in order to stay put in Turin.

It’s now suggested that he will join FC Barcelona in the New Year, leaving Chelsea empty-handed and looking for new targets.
