The Blues are desperate to sign the on-form Leicester winger
Chelsea are preparing to make a swap deal bid for Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez.
The winger has been one of the best players in the Premier League this year, helping to guide the Foxes to the top of the league table. His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with several clubs now hoping to sign him.
Leading the race for his signature are Chelsea, who are determined to get him to make the move to Stamford Bridge. Early reports indicated that the Blues may wait until summer and then bid around £20m for him but with the club needing a superb second half of the season to turn things around, Hiddink wants to move now.
Atsu would be part of a deal
In a bid to help add some new life to the squad (and some goals) he is planning on making a move this month instead. In a bid to convince Leicester to let him go now, they are willing to offer not just £15m but also Christian Atsu as part of a cash-plus-player deal.
It could tempt the Foxes into doing business as not only is it a large amount of money but they also have a player coming in who could help them continue to fight at the top of the league. However, Mahrez has become one of their main players and it still may not be enough for them to let him leave.
Chelsea though will be hoping it is enough though and we will have to wait and see to find out if the Algeria international will still be at the King Power Stadium come the start of February.
