Chelsea flop has some wise-words for Diego Costa

Former-Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has told the club’s new signing, Diego Costa, that he must score early in order to win over the fans.

The Blues splashed out ÂŁ32million on the Spaniard, who had a poor World Cup in Brazil, and Shevchenko has told him that if he doesn’t score early on in his West-London career, he will be called a flop, much like the Ukrainian was when he played for the club.

Shevchenko, who was one of the top strikers in world football at the time of his move, cost Chelsea roughly the same as Costa, but after just three years, he left the club after only scoring nine goals in 48 appearances.

The former-AC Milan man isn’t the only striker to flop at Stamford Bridge, as ÂŁ50m-man Fernando Torres has also failed to re-find his Liverpool form, and Shevchenko has warned Costa that he could be the same if he doesn’t get going early on.

The Ukrainian said: “The best thing for Costa is to score and score early.

“That will be important to him.

“The expectations from the fans and the club are very big so he needs to score and get going.”

“I’m sure he will do well. Ithink he is a good striker and I like him.”
