Striker’s price-tag will go up in the summer, says manager

Chelsea have been advised by Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Alex Teixeira in January, or face paying more for him in the summer.

The Blues are interested in landing the striker in the New Year, with reports claiming a bid worth around ÂŁ30million could be launch, but according to the Ukrainian club, Teixeira‘s price-tag will go up at the end of the season.

Chelsea are in dire-need of a new striker, with Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy failing to impress, and concerns still over the head of Diego Costa.

Teixeira is the one-name strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and Jose Mourinho is expected to launch a formal bid in January.

However, Shakhtar‘s manager, Mircea Lucescu, has warned the Premier League champions that if the attacker isn’t signed in January, his price-tag will go up.

Price-Tag To Increase

He said: “Alex is now worth more than 40 million euros (£28.9m).

“I think at the end of the season – were he to continue with this performance – his value is 50 million euro (ÂŁ36.1m).

“If he were playing in a league more competitive, his transfer would be at the same level as that of Di Maria.”
