Chelsea bid worth £22m bid rejected

Chelsea’s bid worth £22m for Jamaican youngster Leon Bailey has been rejected by Bayer Leverkusen. The 20-year-old has been in fine form recently, and set up both the goals in his side’s 2-0 win over Stuttgart.

Chelsea had been assessing the youngster’s moves ever since he came to Germany, and have identified him as a potential successor to Willian.

However, despite impressing Chelsea scouts, who were present to witness Bailey ply his trade against Stuttgart, the initial offer didn’t go through, with Bayer desperate to stick with the 22-year-old and prevent any move to Stamford Bridge.

The Jamaican international, who can play as a winger on both sides of the pitch, has been in fine form this season, having scored five goals and four assists for his side. He also made one appearance for the Jamaican U-23 side in 2015.

Bailey joined Leverkusen in the 2016-2017 winter transfer window, acquired for a value of €20 million.
