Chelsea hold talks with Radamel Falcao

Premier League side Chelsea have held talks with AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao over a possible transfer in January, despite the Colombian joining the French side just a few months ago.

The 27-year-old has been a long-term target for both Jose Mourinho and Chelsea, and it is believed that they are ready to make a move for him in the New Year, despite Monaco slapping an ÂŁ85million price-tag on his head.

However, Chelsea officials are confident that they can get the deal done a lot cheaper due to the player feeling unsettled at the club.

Falcao is reportedly unhappy that he is being paid less than what he agreed, and he is also holding a grudge after he was substituted in a match in November.

If the striker was to leave France, a whole host of European teams would be interested in signing him, but his agent, Jorge Mendes, wants to see him work under Mourinho, who is also one of his clients.

The ÂŁ85million price-tag is the only stumbling block in the way at the moment for The Blues, but they are feeling confident that they can either get the price down, or agree a part-exchange with either Demba Ba or Fernando Torres going the other way.
