Blues have spoken to Atletico Madrid manager already

Chelsea have held talks with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, according to reports.

The Blues board will now begin their hunt for a new full-time manager after sacking Jose Mourinho on Thursday and replacing him with Guus Hiddink as interim on Saturday.

However, Hiddink is expected to leave his role at the end of the season, and Roman Abramovich is now in the market to find his next permanent manager.

According to reports, he has already held talks with Simeone and has been in discussions with him for the past month.

Early indications suggest Abramovich wants Pep Guardiola or Simeone, but with the former almost guaranteed to be at Manchester City next season, Chelsea may have to settle with the Argentinian.

There are fears that the Atletico manager isn’t ready to move to England, as he doesn’t speak the language and he’s not used to the lifestyle over here.

Simeone Ready for Move

However, with still half a season left to get through, the Argentine has time to prepare himself for the move if it does happen.

Despite the language barrier, Simeone has admitted he does want to manage in the Premier League one day and he’s also admitted that he will listen to offers in the summer.

The 45-year-old has had a successful stint with Atletico, winning them the La Liga and Europa League, as well as reaching the Champions League final.

Simeone is an emotional character on the touchline and Abramovich believes the Chelsea fans will warm to him immediately.
