According to reports, Chelsea are keen to sign Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino. It is believed that Inter Milan have valued the Uruguayan at £32 million.
Vecino has played under current Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri at Empoli where he was on loan from Fiorentina for the 2014-15 season. Empoli came 15th in the Serie A that season.The 26-year old won’t be the first player who will be reuniting with Sarri as the 59-year old has also signed Napoli’s Jorginho.
The 26-year old had a fine 2017-18 season with Inter Milan. He played 31 matches, scoring three goals and providing as many assists. His most notable contribution to Inter’s campaign was perhaps scoring the winner in the club’s 3-2 win against Lazio. This win confirmed Inter’s participation in the Champions League after 6 years.
Vecino also started in all of Uruguay’s matches in their quarter-final run at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He played the entirety of Uruguay’s two knockout matches against Portugal and France.
