Real Madrid midfielder is on Blues’ radar

Chelsea are keeping tabs on Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has been with the La Liga side since 2013, but spent the 2014/2015 season out on loan with FC Porto, making 28 league appearances for the Portuguese side.

During his two-year stint with Madrid, the Brazilian international has only made 27 La Liga appearances, falling behind the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic in the pecking order.

With first-team football limited at the Bernabeu, Casemiro is reportedly considering his future, and if reports are to be believed, he will have a fair few options in the summer.

Battle for Casemiro

It’s claimed Chelsea aren’t the only team interested in signing the midfielder, as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Porto are also believed to be in the hunt.

According to reports, Jose Mourinho was tipping Chelsea to land the 24-year-old, and despite the Portuguese being sacked in December, officials at Stamford Bridge have continued to monitor the midfielder.

As it stands however, Porto are considered favourites due to a clause which was in his loan-deal contract. Should Madrid decide to sell permanently, Porto could sign him for just ÂŁ16million and have first refusal.
