Chelsea are reportedly after Athletico Madrid’s highly rated centre forward Diego Costa , according to reports in Span and the Daily Mirror Mourinho will open talks with Athletico boss Diego Simeone and Costa respectivly in order to push through a move…..using unsettled winger Juan Mata as bait to finish off a possible deal.

Costa has been in superb form this season…in both Le Liga and in the Champions League as Athletico have started the season like a house on fire , thanks to Costa’s 12 goals in his opening 10 league games . The Brazilian has formed a superb partnership with fellow centre forward David Villa , who signed on a free from Bracelona in the summer of this year.

Mourinho has openly declared his admiration for the player and could make a move for the mark’s man in January , as his current strikers are seriously struggling for form , with  Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o notching just one league goal between them so far this term , and Romelu Lukaku is currently out on loan at Everton. Costa could prove to be an inspired signing for the blues as a possible swap deal for former Athletico striker maybe on the cards.

Costa will have high hopes to represent either Spain at next summer’s World Cup Final’s in the country of his birth and after impressing so far for the Madrid based club….he will want to continue his fine form to gain a place in Vicente Del Bosque’s star studded squad.

The west London club will be looking for a first title since 2010 , but could face stiff competition fron North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur respectivly , aswell as Manchester City and a host of top European club’s chasing Costa’s signature.

Chelsea will however have to splash the cash in order to get their man and prize him away from Atletico Madrid…..something which may not be easy , but since the sale of Colombian star Falcao to AS Monaco in the summer , proves Atletico maybe tempted if the right price comes in.
