Chelsea to beat Real Madrid for the signing of Icardi

According to AS, Chelsea have submitted a £55 million for Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi. The Blues are showing a serious statement and looking  to beat Spanish Giants Real Madrid for the Argentinian Striker.

Chelsea are not having a particular good season and are looking to add more firepower to their team in the summer. They have identified Icardi as Chelsea’s chiefs believe a natural goal scorer is required to challenge for the title.

With Real Madrid also interested in the striker,Chelsea without any delay has made a formal bid of £55 million him to lure him to Stamford Bridge. But it is most likely to be rejected by Inter Milan as Icardi have £96m million clause and would want more than what Chelsea are offering. With the striker being one of the top targets for Chelsea, the club would definitely return with an improved offer if their offer is rejected first.

Another setback Chelsea could  face in their pursuit of the striker, is the uncertainty of Antonio Conte’s future according to ESPN Pundit Paul Mariner

“I’m on the fence with this,” Mariner said.

“Icardi, obviously Conte would know him very, very well.

“But the problem is is Conte going to be at the club next season?

“So every single transfer rumour to Chelsea you’ve always got to sit on the fence, because you don’t know.

“As a player, are you going to go and play for Conte? Who are you going to play for?

“So I’m going to say at the moment, even though if Conte stays this will be a good signing, I’m going to say this is a miss at the moment.”

Mauro Icardi has scored 22 goals in 26 appearances for Inter Milan in all competitions this season.
