Chelsea make surprise move for Tottenham star
Chelsea is looking to solve its long-standing attacking problems soon, and according to a report in Independent, Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente could be the answer.
Antonio Conte has been, for a while, looking at options to act as backup for Alvaro Morata, as he hasn’t shown as much confidence on Michy Batshuayi in the past.
Conte confirms he wanted to sign World Class defender
Conte was closely following Llorente for a deal from Swansea last year, but Tottenham intervened and poached him for £12m.
It is being said that since Batshuayi hasn’t been able to create much impact under Conte, he could be sent on loan, with the Italian looking at other options, including West Ham’s Andy Carroll.
Llorente could act as the perfect mentor for Morata, whose form has gone up and down. Both played together at Turin, and Conte knows he can trust in Llorente, with whom he worked in Juventus.
However, a deal with Mauricio Pochettino could be difficult to materialise, especially with the Spurs boss being an admirer of Llorente.
