Blues to target Newcastle United star in January

Chelsea are plotting a shock move for Newcastle United powerhouse Moussa Sissoko, according to reports.

The Blues are already planning for the January transfer window after having a fairly quiet one throughout the summer, which saw just four players arrive up until deadline day when a further two were added to the squad.

Radamel Falcao, Pedro, Asmir Begovic and Baba Rahman were the four recognised signings Jose Mourinho made, but it was well documented that he missed out on both John Stones and Paul Pogba from Everton and Juventus respectively.

The Premier League champions were desperate to add the two young stars, but failed in formal bids with The Toffees rejecting all offers and Pogba rejecting a move to Stamford Bridge despite Juve willing to sell.

January Plans

With prime targets missed, Chelsea and Mourinho are now planning for January, and according to reports in France, Sissoko is a man on the wishlist.

It’s believed Chelsea could launch a formal bid worth around ÂŁ17million for the 26-year-old.

However, after hearing of the reported interest, The Magpies are ready to offer Sissoko a new deal with a substantial pay-rise from his current ÂŁ35k-a-week deal.

There are fears around St James’ Park regarding Sissoko’s future, especially after his interview recently, where he revealed his dreams are to play for a ‘big club’ in the Champions League.

Sissoko Wants Champions League

“I want to play for one of the biggest clubs.

“I would notably like to play in the Champions League, which I can’t do at Newcastle. One day or another, my time will come.”
