Jose Mourinho desperate for reunion with Frenchman
Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has prioritised Raphael Varane as his number-one Summer transfer target.
The Frenchman has struggled to get regular first-team football at the Bernabeu this season, with Pepe and Sergio Ramos seen as the main partnership in the heart of the defence, and after holding crunch talks with Carlo Ancelotti, it’s likely that a move could take place.
Mourinho gave Varane his big chance at Madrid and once labelled him as the best young centre-back in the world, so a chance to sign him for Chelsea and have a reunion with him would be a chance he couldn’t turn down.
Madrid paid just £7million for Varane back in 2011, but according to reports, Mourinho would willingly pay over £30m to sign him over the Summer.
Manchester United are also linked with signing the 21-year-old.
