Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to allow both Nathan Ake and Andreas Christensen to play regular first team football next season.

The highly-rated pair were both formidable in Chelsea’s U21’s side last season, where they claimed the league title.

And now it appears Mourinho is ready to give the youngsters a chance to develop their footballing abilities and contribute to what Chelsea hope will be a successful campaign next season.

Denmark U21 international Christensen has featured three times in Chelsea’s pre-season friendlies, with Ake playing in all five.

“We are so happy with the squad we have,” Mourinho said.

“We feel that the correct squad is exactly this type of squad we have, with people like Didier [Drogba] and John Terry, but at the same time people like [Andreas] Christensen and [Nathan] Ake.

“We have the squad we want and, I repeat, the club was fantastic in the way they worked so hard and so fast to get Diego [Costa], Filipe [Luis] and [Cesc] Fabregas.”
