Colombian media state that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to purchase Jhon Duran, a striker, for £42 million. The Blues, who were eager to recruit Duran from Aston Villa in January, have made another run at the striker after losing out on Sesko, who just extended his contract with RB Leipzig, as The Telegraph reports.
Nicolas Jackson, who finished the season with 17 goals but was criticised for his lack of consistency, will have competition from another centre-forward, whom Chelsea has been looking to acquire. According to the source, Duran is the top objective of the West London club, which has an excellent relationship with the Villans. The team has reportedly produced a shortlist of at least three forwards for the forthcoming summer window.
Aston Villa Striker wants to join Chelsea this summer
The Colombian star, who was traded by the Chicago Fire to the Villans in January 2023, has only netted five goals in 35 games. Ollie Watkins has mostly used Duran as a replacement, and the player is eager to leave the team in order to get regular playing time.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing him, and initial negotiations have started. Duran has already approved the move, and Villa is willing to sell him for a price of around £35–45 million. The Blues think Duran has the potential to become a top marksman and are willing to seek a less expensive option.
