After losing their first game at home to FC Basel, Chelsea were looking to bounce back away at Steau Bucharest and that is exactly what they did with a emptahtic 4-0 victory.

A brace from Ramires, one from Frank Lampard and an own-goal gave Mourinho’s men the three-points and after the game players and the manager faced the media.

Chelsea midfielder Andre Schurrle:

“We were, from the first minute, the better team. We played with more confidence and had more possession. I always want to start and play – the manager knows that. It’s good for me that I started.”

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata:

“This is what Chelsea needed. The first game against Basel was a painful defeat. We showed we wanted to win. We played really well. It was enough to win. It will now give us confidence. The team played very well and were solid. I just have to keep going – I’m training well. I have to do my best after every training session and game.”

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho:

“The result is obviously very good. The points and the goals. The performance was very solid. We played well from first minute and kept control from then on. We played with intelligence and maturity. Playing away in this competition is not always easy.

“Now we have three points in two matches, but we are not dramatic situation, now we are in a close situation. Schalke have the advantage and we have a double fixture against them. I think we are going to qualify.

“We get points against Schalke and beat Steaua and Basel and we qualify. Tonight we had to identify what we had to do well – Schurrle was the man to do that. We played a lot from the left side.”
