Chelsea ready to battle Manchester United for Brazilian star
Chelsea have joined the race to sign Arthur according to reports in Mundo Deportivo. The 21-year-old has been in fine form for Gremio this season and is reportedly ready to make a switch to a European club.
Manchester United were linked with a move for the Brazilian last month while Barcelona were also linked with the young Brazilian this today. He was seen as the replacement for Michael Carrick by Jose Mourinho while Barcelona wanted him to replace Andres Iniesta – the one who he’s often compared to.
Reports in Goal.com have suggested that the likes of Manchester City and Atletico Madrid have also been scouting him. The 21-year-old reportedly attracted interest after he was called up by Brazil National Manager, Tite for the World Cup Qualifiers but he did not get any time on the pitch.
Chelsea have a fleet of Brazilian footballers at the club. David Luiz, Willian and Kenedy are at the club while Ramires and Oscar were also at the club for some time before they left for the Chinese Super League in the last 1.5 years.
