Nemenja Matic left Chelsea for Benfica in 2011 in a deal which saw David Luiz make the opposite move. Despite this, Brazilian midfielder Ramires has urged his boss to bring Matic back to West London.

With Chelsea idntified as the main team in the race to sign the 25 year-old, Benfica are willing to listen to offers, according to Portugese publication O Jogo.

There is increasing financial pressure on Benfica due to their failure to progress in the Champions League, and offloading Matic would certainly help the Portugese side.

O Jogo claim however that Benfica will want to wait until after their clash with league rivals FC Porto on January 12 before starting negotiations.

With the future of some Chelsea players uncertain, Mourinho will be keen to sign a young talent who can help his squad compete for the Premier League title.
