Chelsea seeking Gonzalo Higuain deal amid bidding frenzy

Chelsea will enter a bidding delirium to land Argentinian star Gonzalo Higuain from Italian side Napoli.

The striker has a £75.8 million release clause in his contract and Napoli are refusing to sell for anything less.

Chelsea have been linked with the 28-year-old for months, and are likely to open the bidding with a fresh offer in the summer.

Although, The Blues’ bid is reportedly going to be well below Napoli’s expectations.

And according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Chelsea’s first offer will be worth around £48.4 million.

Newly appointed boss Antonio Conte is believed to be interested in Higuain, and he will be given the funds to spend big this summer.

However, whether Napoli will be satisfied with Chelsea’s offer remains to be seen, and convincing the Argentine that a move to Stamford Bridge is worthwhile is another story as The Blues will most likely be unable to provide Champions League football to new recruits.
