Antonio Conte is willing to lose one striker to gain another

Chelsea could be set to put a HUGE move into place this summer by selling Diego Costa to free up space and funds for Gonzalo Higuain.

According to the Daily Star, incoming boss Antonio Conte is more than willing to let Costa leave this summer if it means that they can bring in Higuain and it would be a massive step in the boss’ plan to overhaul the Blues squad.

Talks are already believed to be ongoing with Napoli over a move for the Argentina striker, with Spanish reports claiming that they are currently in advanced stages and a deal could be agreed soon.

Chelsea are extremely desperate to bring in the 28-year old, as they believe he could provide the goals to fire them back into a title race next year.

Deal could be worth ÂŁ38m

A deal is believed to be worth ÂŁ38m and it’s more than worth it for Higuain, with the striker having an amazing season in Italy. Higuain has played 41 games this season and scored a tremendous 35 goals.

His finishing has been next-level this season and if he could bring that ability over to the Premier League and to Chelsea, then they would be a force to be reckoned with.

Costa on the other hand hasn’t had too great of a season – compared to last season, when the Blues won the Premier League, the Spaniard has been a shadow of his former self and now his time at Stamford Bridge could be up.

Conte reportedly prefers Higuain to Costa and is willing to listen to offers that do come in for the striker but they won’t let him go for cheap – it would have to be a reasonable offer.

There are a number of teams that the 27-year old could end up at, with Atletico Madrid considering bringing him back to Madrid, Chinese Super League teams keeping an eye on him and there are several other European sides who could be interested.

If this one -in, one-out deal did go ahead in summer, it would be a huge move by Antonio Conte and a huge statement of intent that he does mean business.
