Chelsea set to miss out on Morata

Real Madrid are planning to trigger the buy-back clause in his contract to bring him to the Bernabeu

Chelsea could miss out on Alvaro Morata this summer, with reports claiming Real Madrid want him back.

There is currently a buy-back clause in the striker’s contract, which is worth about ÂŁ23.3m, and Madrid plan on using it to bring him to the Bernabeu.

Juventus are reportedly aware of their intentions and although he is featuring quite prominently for the Italian side – and bagging quite a few goals along the way – if Real do decide to make the offer for him, then he is likely to want to return to his former club.

Real Madrid to sell him on AGAIN

However, even though he would make the move to the Bernabeu, he might not even feature for the club. The Daily Star has claimed that they would use the buy-back clause to re-sign him and then sell him AGAIN for more money than what they paid for him.

Madrid would demand around ÂŁ38m for him once he becomes theirs again, meaning Chelsea and Arsenal, who have also expressed an interest, would have to pay even more for the forward.

It’s bad news for the Blues, with incoming manager Antonio Conte identifying Morata as one of his main summer targets. If this deal took place, Madrid could decide to play him or they could end up having to fork out even more to sign him.

It’s lose-lose for both Premier League sides if this was to happen and they’ll be hoping that no such deal goes ahead.
