Real Madrid planning stunning deal to re-sign Alvaro Morata
Real Madrid want to re-sign Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata less than six months after letting him leave the club for the second time, according to DiarioGol.
The European champions are looking for a striker to provide back-up or even upgrade on Karim Benzema, who has spent most of the season injured and out of form.
Morata has made a great start to life in the Premier League, with 9 goals in 14 matches so far. However, there have been rumours that he would return to Spain or Italy given the chance.
DiarioGol also say that their plan to bring Morata back to the club also involves Antonio Conte, who they are lining up to replace Zinedine Zidane for the managers position.
Los Blancos have not made a good start to their title defence, currently sitting in 4th place – eight points behind leaders Barcelona.
Zidane has won the Champions League in both seasons in charge of Real so far, but if he fails to deliver this season then that may be enough for the Bernabeu hierachy to seek a new manager.
There is plenty of speculation over Conte’s future as well, and although he renewed his contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer, his relationship with the Chelsea board has come under strain.
Morata left boyhood club Real as he wasn’t first choice striker, and with Conte in charge he could finally get his wish of succeeding in Madrid.
