The Premier League champions do not agree with Liverpool’s valuation of the forward

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Raheem Sterling but won’t be held to ransom, according to Sky sources.

Although the asking price is too high, Jose Mourinho’s side will continue to keep tabs on the situation – the England international has recently rejected a contract extension at Anfield.

Following comments by the player’s agent, Aidy Ward, that Sterling would not sign a new deal even if he were offered “£900,000-a-week” a number of clubs have registered an interest.

Sterling: I’m not greedy

Sterling, who has a contract until 2017, has previously denied being a “money-grabber” during an interview with BBC Sport last month.

Manchester City had a bid of £25m plus add-ons rejected for the 20-year-oldCity chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak had promised to invest in new players the day before.

The former QPR player has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and even Real Madrid but no other official bids have been made, according to reports in England.

Real manager, Rafael Benitez, has admitted he “admires” Sterling when he was unveiled as their new first-team coach earlier this month.

The former Liverpool boss has also been linked with another Premier League star – Manchester’s United David De Gea has been widely reported to want a move back to his homeland.
