Chelsea still paying Di Matteo £130,000 a week

Di Matteo secured what those before him could not in 2012 by securing the Champions League, beating Bayern Munich in the final. Despite his success in Europe, Di Matteo was sacked by Abramovich six months later and has been unable to reach a settlement with the Russian business tycoon.

Di Matteo has received £7million since leaving Chelsea and will continue to pocket £130,000 a week until next June unless he decides to return to management before then.

The Champions League wasn’t the only trophy Di Matteo secured, the former Chelsea midfielder also managed to win the FA Cup. A slow start to the 2012-2013 season though saw Di Matteo meet the same fate that many before him have under Abramovich, as Abramovich decided to bring in former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez as an interim manager.

Di Matteo has been linked with the vacant Crystal Palace job and with pressure increasing on Martin Jol at Fulham, Di Matteo has seen his name come up as a replacement for Jol. Di Matteo would be reluctant to take up a role with a smaller pay than he is currently pocketing from Chelsea.
