Dominic Solanke is said to be close to agreeing new Chelsea deal after lowering wage demands
The 19-year-old striker had originally asked for £50,000 a week when discussions first kicked off last season.
However, it is reported by The Times, talks only resumed this month when his representative informed the Blues that the player would accept half of the amount.
Solanke, who has made just one substitute appearance for the Blues, progressed to the club’s senior set-up in 2014 from their youth squad.
He was, however, named on the bench against Leicester City last weekend fuelling speculation the terms of a new deal are close to being confirmed.
The England Under-21 – who is currently on £7,000 a week – spent last season on loan with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhe, where he netted seven goals in 26 appearances.
Another loan move was blocked by Chelsea this summer following the contract negotiations.
