The defender is out of favour in the Spanish capital
According to Spanish media outlet Fichajes, Chelsea have opened up talks with Real Madrid over a potential deal for full-back Dani Carvajal.
The 24-year old has had limited first team chances at the Bernabeu this season, losing his starting sport to the in-form Danilo.
Real Madrid have previously let Carvajal leave the club; he joined Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in 2012 for around €5 million.
However, after just one campaign at the German side, Carvajal rejoined los Blancos after they exercised their buy-back clause of €6.5 million.
The Premier League champions want to strengthen their back-line
If Chelsea are to sign the Spain international, it is believed that they must pay approximately £12 million.
