Chelsea target Ronald Koeman as Jose Mourinho replacement

Chelsea are considering approaching Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, should the title-holders part ways with current boss, Jose Mourinho. 

The West Londoners have had a hellish campaign to date, with the Blues currently residing in 16th position in the top-flight, just a solitary point away from the relegation places.

As a result of Chelsea’s poor form this season, Mourinho has found his position at the club come under increasing pressure – owner Roman Abramovich has held talks to discuss the future of the 52-year-old Portuguese.

With a lack of long-term candidates currently able to take on the role due to jobs elsewhere, should Abramovich sack Mourinho, he may need to draft in a replacement on a shorter contract.

The Telegraph have reported that attentions have turned to Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, who has been viewed as a potential short-term replacement until the end of the season.
