Blues identify Unal as replacement for Drogba

Chelsea are preparing a £7 million deal to sign 18-year-old Enes Unal from Bursaspor this summer, to bolster Jose Mourinho’s squad.

The striker has just four goals in 31 appearances for the Turkish side, which may come as a shock to some, considering the prolific nature of the Blues squad.

However, at just 18, Unal has been capped by Turkey and already boasts valuable experience that suggests he could make it in the Premier League.

Out of contract

Chelsea veteran Didier Drogba is out of contract at the end of the season, and Unal is understood to be a youthful replacement at Stamford Bridge, if the Ivorian is not offered fresh terms.

However, game time may be an issue for the Turkish striker, as is the problem for many young players at Chelsea.

A loan spell away from the club is going to be likely, in order to gain experience, develop and be ready to fight for a place in what is a title-winning team.
