Premier League side Chelsea are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso after Jose Mourinho built up a good friendship with the Spaniard during his time at the Bernabeu.
Alonso’s current contract at Madrid is set to expire in the Summer and Mourinho is hopeful that he can strike a deal with him this Winter, so that he can sign him as a free agent, ready for the Summer.
The former-Liverpool man was a real success in England during his time at Anfield, and was eventually sold for £30million back in 2009.
Despite being a loved figure in Merseyside, it is believed that Alonso would not favour a move back to Liverpool and in fact would like to join up with Mourinho once again.
