Chelsea are set to land the signature of 17 year-old Hamburg striker Jann-Fiete Arp, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

Arp has also been the subject of interest from Arsenal and Manchester City amongst others, but the Blues are favourites to sign the German striker say the British newspaper.

The youngster has scored twice in four Bundesliga appearances so far this season, and is regarded as one of Germany’s biggest talents having scored 18 times in 19 games for the national U17 side.

Chelsea supposedly tried to sign Arp last summer but were rebuffed as the player decided he wanted to stay and develop with his hometown club.

Now though having debuted and scored in the Bundesliga, it appears that he could be convinced to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Hamburg manager Markus Gisdol is keen for Arp to sign a new contract with the club, recently saying: “It is no secret [we want him to renew], he is a great talent, and we must keep him with us. He can be a great player.”

At 6ft 2, he is a striker that looks well suited to English football and interest will surely intensify if he continues his impressive form.
