Roman Abramovich desperate to have Bayern Munich manager at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to ‘break the bank’ in order to get Pep Guardiola to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Guardiola announced earlier this week that he will be leaving Bayern Munich in the summer and will be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.

It’s not yet understood if the Spaniard will take a sabbatical of whether he will be ready to jump straight into a new challenge ahead of next season.

If it is the latter, it’s highly expected he will be in the Premier League, with Chelsea and Manchester City both keen on hiring him.

Abramovich’s Number-One Target

Reports suggest City are favourites, with some even claiming the deal is already in place, but Abramovich is a big fan of the Spaniard and is prepared to spend big in order to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Guardiola was on ÂŁ16m-a-year in Germany, which is a contract City are prepared to match, but they will have to beat Chelsea if they want to see the ex-Barcelona boss at the Etihad Stadium.

Abramovich’s quest for a new manager continues after the sacking of Jose Mourinho, but a source close to him as confirmed Guardiola is number-one.

The source said: “Pep is the man that Roman wants. He is still the No 1 choice.”
