Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is preparing to make a £30million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.
The Blues manager has already been active this Summer, securing the signings of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, with Filipe Luis reportedly close to joining as well, and he is now ready to make long-term Manchester United target, his fourth signing.
The Portuguese international, who did feature at the World Cup in Brazil, is reportedly worth around £30m, and Mourinho is ready to meet that price-tag.
The 22-year-old is a defensive minded midfielder, so will go up against Nemanja Matic and Ramires for first-team positions at Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho is keen to add depth to his side that fell short in last year’s Premier League title race.
Carvalho has met with Lisbon’s president since returning from Brazil to discuss his future, but nothing has been revealed from said chats.
