Jose Mourinho refusing to give in despite Everton’s warning

Chelsea are showing no signs of giving up in their pursuit of Everton defender John Stones and will reportedly launch an astonishing offer worth around £34million.

The Blues are desperate to land the young centre-back and are prepared to break the current record for an English defender.

Manchester United paid £30m to sign Rio Ferdinand from Leeds United, but according to reports this morning, Chelsea are ready to top that by £4m in order to lure Stones away from Goodison Park.

Transfer Interest

Everton have voiced their displeasure about how vocal and public Chelsea and Jose Mourinho have been regarding their interest, with Roberto Martinez venting his frustrations to the press.

However, Mourinho doesn’t seem fazed by it and has continued to admit he will make fresh offers for the player.

Chelsea saw their initial bid worth £20m turned down by The Toffees, and were then told that the defender wouldn’t be for sale for any price.

The 21-year-old is deemed a long-term replacement for John Terry, and that is why Mourinho is prepared to go as high as £34m for his services this summer.

Everton Unlikely to sell

Stones is expected to have a big season this year, with Everton only really having himself and Phil Jagielka as recognised first-team defenders, with Slyvain Distin joining AFC Bournemouth.

Martinez and Everton have been good at fending off interest from big clubs in the past, but if a bid worth £34m were to be launched, it would be hard to say no.
