Reports claim that Chelsea might make an attempt for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland in case Thibaut Courtois leaves Stamford Bridge. Thibaut Courtois has been in terrific form for Chelsea throughout the past couple of years but it looks that he might be leaving the club now. The Belgian is in the final year of his contract and his agent has also advised him to go to Real Madrid.
Courtois arrived in England today but was absent during Chelsea’s training session. There are speculations that the Golden Glove Winner spoke to Maurizio Sarri and expressed his desire to leave the club.
Chelsea have said that they wouldn’t let go of Courtois if they haven’t found a suitable replacement. The Blues showed interest in Jordan Pickford but Everton refused to negotiate. Hence, they have now set their eyes on the 25-year old Butland.
Jack Butland played 35 matches for Stoke City last season, making all of the club’s 6 clean sheets. However, Butland wasn’t able to prevent The Potters’ relegation from the Premier League. Butland also featured in Stoke’s opening game of the Championship against Leeds United which they lost 1-3.
Reports also claim that Chelsea and Stoke City have had talks regarding a deal. It is believed that Stoke can allow Butland to leave the club for £30 million. With only a couple of days to go before the transfer window closes, a deal will have to be quick as Stoke might require a replacement for Butland.
