Chelsea are close to finalising a deal for former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato.
In a deal thought to be worth about £7m, Pato, currently playing for Corinthians in Brazil, is an attractive option for Blues manager Guus Hiddink, as he is eligible for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The Brazilian forward is also wanted by Liverpool. Pato, 26, was last week reportedly discussing terms with the Premier League champions.
The Blues have struggled for goals up front this season, with Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao all failing to find the net regularly enough.
Indeed, Remy and Falcao could even be on their way out of the club before the transfer window ends.
The transfer is set to be a short-term fix, rather than a permanent one. However, the loan may come with an option to buy in the summer.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea are hoping to finalise the deal before this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Milton Keynes Dons.
