Blues must wait for extra £4.2million

Chelsea will receive £20million up front for Ramires after he completed his move to Jiangsu Suning, meaning they must wait for the extra £4.2m.

Reports emerged earlier this week that Ramires had agreed to leave Stamford Bridge, ending his long-term association with the Premier League club, as he prepares to venture to China with Jiangsu Suning, and the club confirmed the midfielder’s departure earlier today.

Jiangsu have had a £24.2m bid accepted for Ramires by the English champions, but it has emerged that the Blues will only receive £20m of that upfront.

Performance Related Clauses

The remaining fee will be distributed over time given Ramires activates certain triggers in his contract. It’s not yet been revealed what the clauses are in the 28-year-old’s contract, but it’s believed to be performance related.

Ramires has now become China’s most expensive transfer ever, breaking the current record which is £12.95m.

Ramires has been at Chelsea for six years now, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.

He cost the Blues £17m from Portuguese side Benfica.
