During the January transfer window, there have been lots of transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea in terms of who leaves and who joins. But the most noteable star the Chelsea boss is reportedly interested in next is Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso.
Mourinho coached Alonso during his time with the La Liga side so there is already a close connection between the two, but Chelsea are still far from signing the Spanish international.
With Alonso’s contract expiring at the end of the seaosn, Mourinho will be keen to get his signature and return him to the Premier League where he enjoyed 5 successful years with Liverpool.
However the Spaniard hinted at a possible Madrid stay as he told Fuera de Serie-Magazine: “It’s extremely intense playing in this team, in both a good and a bad sense. You’re constantly in the public eye.
“The pressure, the demands and the responsibility are far greater here – Fortunately, I’ve always felt loved by the club and the fans.”
Alonso hasn’t been a main feature in Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, starting just 6 games in the league without any goals or assists.
With certain Chelsea midfielders linked with moves out of Stamford Bridge, the Cheslea boss will be keen to land the signature of an experienced midfielder, with whom he has a very strong relationship.
