Chelsea’s forgotten man set for Schalke move
Remember Baba Rahman? He’s at Chelsea right now and has just recovered from an ACL injury. The defender was loaned out to Schalke last season and now that’s recovered, he might be heading back to the Bundesliga side.
Schalke’s Sporting Director, Christian Heidel confirmed interest in re-signing the left-back. “Is Baba ready to help us in the second half of the season? You have to see,” he said.
Chelsea are still accessing the defender and are not willing to rush him back into action. He was omitted from the Premier League and Champions League squad as he was not going to fully recover until December.
The defender has made just 15 apps for the club ever since joining from Augsburg in 2015 but Antonio Conte reportedly wants him to challenge Marcos Alonso for a place in the starting XI soon.
A decision on the player’s future is set to be made in the coming weeks with the manager deciding if he wants to keep the player at the club or loan him out for the rest of the season.
