Chelsea’s move for striker rubbished by current club

After reports came in that Chelsea had been interested in Stoke City striker Peter Crouch, sources close to the club clarified that no such move was made by Antonio Conte.

Earlier reports had carried the news that Conte, frustrated by the lack of attacking options as back-up for Alvaro Morata, had been interested in West Ham striker Andy Carroll as well as the current Stoke City striker Peter Crouch.

According to Sky Sports News, Stoke has denied any such move by Chelsea.

The club is also said to have said that they won’t be willing to let go of the 37-year-old, even if they line up a replacement for him.

Crouch has been at Stoke since 2011 and has made a total of 189 appearances for the club. He signed a new one-year contract with the club, with the option of extending it by one more year in November.
