Christian Eriksen 'Awake And Stable' After Scary Collapse vs Finland

Denmark midfielder, Christian Eriksen is “awake” and resting in hospital after collapsing on Saturday.

The 29-year-old was suddenly seen to lose consciousness during the first group game against Finland.

Eriksen was rushed to a hospital and diagnosed with a cardiac arrest. UEFA decided to suspend the game for a little while until the players decided to see out the contest after all. Finland went on to win game 1-0.

Peter Moller of the Danish Football Association told Danmarks Radio: “We have been in contact with him [Eriksen] and the players have spoken to Christian. He is doing well and they are playing the match for Christian”.

Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand could not hold back his emotions in the post-match press conference.

“It was a really tough evening, on which we’ve all been reminded what the most important things in life are. It’s meaningful relationships. It’s those people who are close to us. It’s family and friends,” he said.

“Everything, everything, everything – all thoughts are with Christian and his family.”

The entire footballing world sent their thoughts out to Eriksen and his family. It is a major relief to hear that he has survived the incident and on his way to recovery.
