Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has pinpointed the Premier League title as a goal for his team-mates, but understands that finishing above fierce-rivals Arsenal is a must first of all.

Spurs have failed to finish about The Gunners for many years now, despite having clear advantage over them in the last two seasons, and the Dane international wants to change that, starting with this season.

The 21-year-old made his White Hart Lane bow at the weekend and was superb for Andre Villas-Boas, setting up one of the goals and being dangerous throughout the match.

A lot of people have labelled Tottenham as title contenders and Eriksen has admitted that it would be amazing to win the English Premier League.

‘I think everybody, first and foremost, wants to be in the Champions League next season, for sure,’ he said. ‘Then we have, of course, to become champions. That is why he spent so much money on good players. That is just the sort of thing I want to be part of.

‘I think our title chances are really good. We have had a good beginning and it is pretty easy to play with such good players.

‘Arsenal are above us in the league at the moment, so we will have to turn that around for a start.’
