Manchester City are reportedly after FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala, with the highly rated defender valued at £42 million.
French Broadsheet Sports Newspaper L’Equipe have stated that Pellegrini will table a bid for the French Youngster, who is tipped to be one of the rising stars in World Football.
The French paper also suggested that Managala may also consider moves to Ligue 1 giants PSG and AS Monaco.
The Portuguese club have so far resisted all offers and insisted that they would not sell for any less than his £42m buy-out clause – a staggering fee for a relatively unproven prospect, who is not currently playing in one of Europe’s top four Leagues.
However, City have struggled for defensive stability this season, with Matija Nastasic, Martin Demichelis and Joleon Lescott all struggling to maintain first team spots.
The Frenchman will look to be a surprise candidate for a World Cup spot, after impressing for FC Porto this season.
