City line-up Reus capture

Manchester City are ready to mark the end of their UEFA-imposed financial restrictions by making a £25 million pound move for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.

The German winger will be the club’s top target next summer, which will put them in direct competition with Premier League rivals Arsenal, who themselves have been long-term admirers of the player.

With Reus now fully fit, City are ready to bring the wizard to England and meet his buy-out clause which can be activated by any offer above £25 million next summer.

City’s transfer-fixer Txiki Begiristain is already working on the deal, and Dortmund know that it will be almost impossible to keep hold of their star man.

City believe Reus is better value than another player they coveted – An- gel Di Maria – who moved to Man United from Real Madrid for a British record £59.7m.

UEFA originally imposed a two-year spending cap on City, but said the second year would be lifted if they put their financial house in order.

And the club have done so, with a number of sales, especially cashing in £25 million for outcast Alvaro Negredo.
