Leicester City manager Claude Puel feels that they should have won an early penalty against Arsenal. During the 18th minute of the match, Rob Holding appeared to handle the ball in the penalty area. However, the referee Chris Kavanagh did not award a penalty to Leicester City.

Leicester City eventually went 1-0 up after Hector Bellerin scored an own goal in the 31st minute. However, Mesut Ozil equalised for Arsenal at half-time before substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck twice in three minutes. Arsenal won the match 3-1 and moved up to 4th in the table. Leicester City remain on 11th position.

Following the match, Puel said that the referee should’ve given Leicester a penalty. He said, “I don’t understand why the referee didn’t whistle for the penalty. In this moment it was a penalty and also a second yellow card. This situation can change the course of the game. At the beginning of the second half we lost a lot of possession and we gave them the ball too easily which put us under pressure. But we had the chances to score and to lead in the game with the header from Ndidi hitting the bar. I have a lot of regret from this game because we showed a lot of quality and we were unlucky with the decision. It was difficult to maintain our level from the first half.”

Leicester City captain Kasper Schmiechel also thought that they should have won the penalty. The Dane said, “We got no help from the official. I’ve never seen a clearer penalty. It’s tough to take because we were so good in the first half but in the second we’ve got to do a lot better than we did.”

Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture is against Crystal Palace on Sunday while Leicester City face West Ham on Saturday.
