Former Juventus and Italy midfielder Claudio Marchisio has said that he would like to play the Champions League final in Barcelona again. The 33-year-old recently announced his retirement from football due to persistent injuries.

“It has been a thoughtful and difficult decision,” Marchisio admitted.

“During the rehabilitation, something was activated within me. My body no longer reacted what I wanted and, if someone cannot give what I have always given, it is time to make this decision.”

However, Marchisio also revealed that he had no shortage of suitors for playing football.

“I received offers to stay in football from all over the world,” he said.

“I don’t know what I will do.”

“Now a new path begins, and I’m not excluding anything. For now, I will spend some time with my family.”

When talking about the two biggest regrets of his career, he said,

“I would like to have won the Champions League with Juve and Euro 2012 with Italy.”

“If I could, I would like to play the Berlin final [against Barcelona] again.”

“For me, the most important thing was the promotion to Serie A,” he stated.

“I realised that it was my moment, that my dream was coming true.”
