Bayern Munich forward Xherdan Shaqiri has finally put to bed speculation of where his future lies by penning a deal until the end of the season with Inter Milan for a loan fee of €2m.

The Nerazzurri will then be obliged to pay €12m for the Swiss’ services come the end of the current season, disappointing his other suitors – among them Premier League outfits Liverpool and Stoke City. Juventus had previously been interested, but they later ruled themselves out of any potential negotiations to focus their efforts on securing Galatasaray playmaker Wesley Sneijder.

The Italian club have confirmed that a deal is on place, tweeting that “there is total agreement between Inter and Bayern Munich for the arrival of Xherdan Shaqiri,” going on to add that they’re “only missing signatures.”

It is reported that Shaqiri has verbally agreed a four-year deal worth approximately €2.75m per season.

Shaqiri has a fairly impressive record with the German champions, making 81 appearances, scoring 17 goals and making 19 assists in the process. However the 23-year old has found his opportunities limited under new coach Pep Guardiola and has usually earned his appearances coming off the bench.

Bayern gave their blessing for Shaqiri to skip training to confirm his deal, whilst Inter executives Piero Ausilio and Michael Bolingbroke met with their German counterparts Matthias Sammer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to iron out the final details between the two European giants.

Inter Milan will be Shaqiri’s third club. Having won titles at his previous two, both Shaqiri and Inter will be hoping that he can add to his already impressive CV and fulfil the undoubted potential that saw Munich pay €11.6m for him in 2012.
