Conte Chases Swansea Striker Llorente

The January transfer window is only a day away from opening as managers queue up to enhance their squads. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is already looking to Llorente to strengthen his league leading side.

A big question mark myself and many others have expressed over Chelsea’s side is depth. When they inevitably play European football next year they need depth. Even over this current campaign, The Blues have no adequate replacement should Costa be suspended or injured.

Chelsea sit at the zenith of English football right now, however, Conte is planning a shock move toward the Swansea City’s frontman Fernando Llorente, reports AS.

Fernando made a switch to Swansea City in summer and has scored six goals in 15 appearances. This is all in spite of diabolical performances by the team whilst under Bob Bradley.

Chelsea sit six points in front of their 2nd place rivals Liverpool. With Michy Batshuayi frozen out of the Italian’s plans, Conte is looking toward 31 year old Llorente to cover Chelsea hero Diego Costa.

Llorente Juventus
Juventus forward Fernando Llorente, of Spain, celebrates after scoring under Conte.

For Chelsea the move for Llorente makes sense. He is a tried and tested international player who has experience in both the Premier League and Conte. The Blues boss signed the Spaniard in 2013 where he amassed 34 appearances and scoring 16 goals as well as lifting a Serie A title.

Swansea on the other hand would be more reluctant. With a managerial change and sitting in the relegation zone, Swansea are unlikely to want Fernando to leave. In this time of turmoil player like Llorente who will deliver are extremely valuable.

This being said, money talks. If Chelsea offer Swansea enough we would be seeing the Spaniard line up for The Blues.
